On behalf of our Tanzania based client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Translator

POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION:

Job Location: Bagamoyo – Kerege

MISSION AND JOB DIMENSION:

We are seeking a skilled and multilingual Translator to provide accurate and contextually appropriate translation and interpretation services. The role requires fluency in Chinese, Swahili, and English, with an emphasis on Chinese and Swahili proficiency. The successful candidate will support communication across diverse teams and assist with any language-related needs as directed by the leadership.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ACTIVITIES

• Translate verbal and written communication between Chinese, Swahili, and English.
• Interpret discussions, meetings, and technical conversations in real time as needed.
• Ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and clarity of all translated materials.
• Support document translation including business reports, correspondence, manuals, and official records.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communication processes.
• Assist in day-to-day communication across departments and with external stakeholders.
• Perform other language-related tasks and duties as instructed by the leadership.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Languages, Translation & Interpretation, Linguistics, International Relations, Communication, or any related field.
• Certification in Chinese Language Studies (e.g., HSK Level 4 or above) is highly preferred.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in Chinese, Swahili, and English, with a strong focus on Chinese and Swahili.
• Previous experience in translation, interpretation, or language facilitation is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Comfortable working in a diverse, multicultural, and fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED COMPENTENCIES:

• Excellent command of grammar, syntax, and idiomatic expressions in all three languages.
• Ability to understand and convey cultural nuances in communication.
• High level of accuracy in written and spoken translations.
• Ability to absorb and interpret information quickly and correctly.
• Efficient handling of multiple translation tasks with tight deadlines.
• Trustworthy with sensitive information and professional in all interactions.
• Clear, articulate, and confident communicator across all mediums.

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

• Familiarity with digital translation tools, transcription software, or editing applications is an added plus.
