On behalf of our Tanzania based client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Accountant.

POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION:

MISSION AND JOB DIMENSION:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to manage financial records, support reporting processes, and ensure full compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in accounting software, the Tanzanian tax system, and bank-related processes, especially in vehicle loan applications. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining financial transparency and supporting both internal and external stakeholders.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ACTIVITIES

• Record daily financial transactions with accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain up-to-date general ledgers and journals.
• Generate and track invoices; follow up on receivables and ensure timely collections.
• Reconcile customer balances and maintain clear financial records.
• Monitor cash flows, assist in preparing fund requests, and manage petty cash.
• Support bank-related activities including applications for car loans and fund transfers.
• Prepare and file tax returns (e.g., VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT, etc.) in compliance with Tanzanian regulations.
• Stay updated on any changes in local tax laws and ensure timely submissions.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Assist with both internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and responses.
• Perform any other financial tasks or special assignments as instructed by the leadership.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–3 years of hands-on accounting experience, experience in a manufacturing or sales company is preferred.
• CPA (T) certification or having passed CPA accounting and tax law courses is a strong advantage.
• Proficient in accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, Sage, or any ERP systems.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Familiarity with the bank loan application process, particularly car loans, is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the Tanzanian tax declaration process.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple financial documents.
• Strong communication skills in English, able to coordinate both internally and externally.
• Trustworthy, deadline-oriented, and a strong team player.

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

• Experience with international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
• Prior involvement in financial forecasting or budgeting
• Working knowledge of supply chain or inventory accounting
