On behalf of our client in the agriculture and agribusiness industry, specifically within the coffee production and export sector. we are looking for competent, skilled, and experienced Production Manager to work in Kampala.

Position: Production Manager

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Production Manager  to work in a truly global environment to ensure adequate flow, processes and documentation are followed in the Units reporting to Unit Operations Manager The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.

This role will be working for Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited , Volcafe’s company in Uganda.

Key Accountabilities

• Coordinate the production team to conduct their activities in the most efficient way in line with company design and protocols.
• Support in process design and machinery redesign and deployment to enhance processes.
• Be responsible for the preventive, general maintenance, and CAPEX deployment. He/She will play a key role also in setting and maintaining quality standards and HSEQ standards, as well as supporting projects and maintenance in other plants in the country as needed.
• Ensure that all the factory machinery is maintained adequately and with strict controls to enable the coffee to flow freely through the machines and to minimize the risk of loss of life, loss of time and deterioration of the product.
• Ensure that all monitoring and measuring equipment is regularly maintained and monitored and KPIs are reported to the head office.
• Ensure that all the required working shifts are well organized and structured and that each shift can effectively handle any repairs and maintenance of machinery that may occur during the shift.
• Making all the appropriate production reports & submitting the same on time.
• Design maintenance schedules, plans and programs and checklists.
• Ensure maintenance of machinery and factory buildings is done as per the schedules and requests made
• Keep custody of tools and equipments and allocate them according to work to be done
• Assess the conditions of machinery and advice management on upgrades, installations and suitability
• Attend to breakdowns and machine failures
• Monitor performance of machinery
• Keep maintenance records for all the washing machinery and equipment

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related role.
• Have proven track record in managing and monitor staff performance
• AutoCAD, Project management, HSEQ and operations management courses/proficiency are desirable.
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity to different attitudes and behaviors.
• Robust resilient character with the ability to work autonomously and confidently.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and able to handle multiple priorities at the same time.
• Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and able to master other software.
• Ability to perform accurate calculations and analysis
