On behalf of our client, we are looking for competent, skilled, and experienced Agroforestry and Agribusiness Expert to work in Soroti, Uganda.
JOB SUMMARY
The Agroforestry and Agribusiness Expert will play a critical role in providing expert guidance and technical support to the implementation of forestry, agroforestry, and agribusiness activities under the Reforest Uganda initiative. The expert will be responsible for advising and supporting both community and private sector entities on sustainable agroforestry practices, indigenous tree nursery management, value chain development, and the integration of carbon removal strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide advice and guidance in the fields of forestry, agroforestry and Agribusiness to the executing agencies of the two grants awarded by the intervention Reforest Uganda, organizing regular meetings with the awarded entities, following assessments of their work.
- Advise on the set-up and management of community and private indigenous tree nurseries, including seeds selection, planting and management of seedlings, certification and commercialization.
- Undertake relevant assessment.
- Advise on sustainable and effective agroforestry practices, including three species composition and planting options, profitability analysis, market demand, financial options, etc.
- Promote and support the implementation of reforestation, afforestation, agroforestry, and NTFP initiatives as envisaged by reforest Uganda, planning and contributing to the estimation of carbon removal assessment and potential values in the carbon market.
- Contribute to research and knowledge management related to forestry and agroforestry technologie
- To provide technical expertise and extension services in agrobusiness enterprise value chains, in collaboration and close coordination with the GEC, to contribute to product development, value addition, and marketing in collaboration and close coordination with the GEC, to contribute to product development, value addition, and marketing.
- To provide technical expertise and extension services in forestry, afforestation, reforestation.
- Implement sector training needs assessments, training module and training manual for public institutions, private sector and local communities.
- Ensure the intervention compliance with environmental laws and regulations in the implementation of agroforestry practices
- Participate in sector meeting at district and regional level when requested.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to forestry and agroforestry initiatives spearheaded under the action.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor’s and master’s degree in relevant field
- Seven- year experience in forestry agroforestry agrobusinesses and green economy.
- Proven relevant experience in forestry and agroforestry, agrobusiness, Uganda NTFP and their value chains, CRM strategies, climate change policy and methodologies, DR
- Experience in Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Participatory Learning and Action (PLA)
- Proven knowledge of Project Cycle Management (PCM), Result Based Management
- (RBM) and Theory of Change (ToC).
- Proven relevant experience in MEAL.
