JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Coordinator will play a pivotal role in driving Vanguard Economics’ expansion efforts in Rwanda and East Africa. This position involves supporting strategic business initiatives, managing client relationships, and ensuring the seamless operation of business development processes. The BD Coordinator will work closely with the Business Development Manager to identify opportunities, develop proposals, and support the company’s growth strategies.

JOB DETAILS

Business Development Support 

  • Research and identify online tendering opportunities and other new business prospects.
  • Assist in managing the firm’s pipeline to ensure it aligns with strategic objectives.
  • Lead and maintain the company’s SharePoint folders, ensuring accessibility and proper documentation.
  • Work on Expressions of Interest (EOIs), technical proposals, and financial proposals, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposal presentations for potential clients and stakeholders.
  • Draft and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly business development reports to management and the wider office.

Client Relationship Management 

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a point of contact for client communication, ensuring timely responses and professional interactions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date repository of staff resumes and corporate qualifications/capabilities for client and proposal purposes.
  • Assist in contract reviews and negotiations to ensure favorable terms and alignment with company objectives.

Research and Reporting 

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in the East African market.
  • Provide insights to support strategic decision-making and expansion plans.
  • Collaborate with the team to produce detailed business development reports, including metrics on pipeline progress and client engagement.

Administrative and Organizational Support 

  • Attend weekly business development check-ins and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • Ensure all business development documentation is well-organized, up-to-date, and accessible.
  • Support the development of quarterly presentations to management and staff, providing updates on progress and outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.

Experience 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage proposals, client relationships, and pipeline processes.
  • Familiarity with East African markets and tendering processes is an added advantage.

Technical Skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as SharePoint or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills for market research and reporting.

Competencies 

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French or Kinyarwanda is a plus.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing documents and managing data.
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and thrive under pressure.
